OSTAP KOSTYUK director
Born in 1979 in Kolomyia, Ukraine.
He graduated from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a degree in History and went on to study theatre and performance at the Les Kurbas Academic Theatre.
Since 1998, he's worked as an actor at the Les Kurbas Academic Theatre, the "Maisternia Pisni" Arts Centre, the Grotowski Institute (Wroclaw, Poland) and LaMaMa Theatre (New York, USA) and as a musician he has fronted several successful music projects including "BAI: Hutsul Mystery," "Banda Arkan," "Tatosh Banda," and "Hych Orchestr." He is also a music curator at the DZYGA Cultural Centre in Lviv.
In 2011, Kostyuk attended the Dragon Forum International Academy of Documentary Arts (Warsaw/Krakow, Poland). In 2011 in collaboration with Oleksandr Pozdnyakov, Ostap made his directorial debut with the short film “Manu I kapusta (Manu et le chou)” (10min, 35 mm Kodak/Fuji stock, Lodz Film School), awarded by RADi (Agence du Court Métrage, France, 2012).
